Kanger Vola Kit Review
Introduction: Vola Kit by KangerTech
This review will be taking a closer look at the Kanger Vola Kit. This kit comes with the Vola 2ml Tank and Vola 100 watt mod.
In this review we will be taking a look both products and giving you the pros and cons to help you decide if this could be a kit for you.
I’m sure almost all vapers know or have heard of KangerTech. If not they were one of the first widely available brands to hit the market, most famously by their SubTank range. But that was many years ago, with recent releases such as the Kanger Spider kiton their product list we will see if their new products hold up to the name.

Design and Build Quality
In general the build quality of both products is impressive. I was sent two Kanger Vola kits for the purpose of review and neither had any imperfections. The mod and tank share a simplistic look which I found missing in the current days of every mod coming with led lights.
The best design feature for me would have to be the mods screen, its bright, high definition and tells you everything you need to know.
Other well designed elements that deserve a shout out is the fact the mod can hold a 25mm tank with no overhang, which is highly desired with most tanks now coming out at 24mm and up.
Specifically looking at the Vola tank, we have a 510 connection drip tip. Even though there is nothing wrong with this tip it seems a little dated and a 810 would have been a better choice.
Moving down, this tank is top filling with smooth treads and large kidney shaped holes. It comes as a TPD compliant 2ml tank however if you remove the preinstalled rubber limiters inside the tank it then becomes 4ml.
Finally the airflow control is the perfect amount of resistance and stops when fully open and when fully closed, this is a simple but effective and helpful design when trying to tank apart the tank.
Now looking at the Vola mod, it has a simple coloured metal band round the device and two shiny black plastic faces.
One of course is the screen which as previously mentioned is bright and beautiful. In typical KangerTech fashion they have tried to make this product usable for every vapers skill level. It has beginner mode, intermediate mode and expert mode but more on this later.
I also wanted to mention the quality of the packaging and this is something usually overlooked.
It’s not offensive, it’s informative and smart. Its a direct copy of the Vaporesso packaging but copying a company in which makes the best packaging in my opinion isn’t a bad thing.
How Does the Kanger Vola kit Perform?
First, let’s take a quick look at how to fill and change the coils.
How To Fill The Vola Tank
- Pinch the top of the tank and while using the ridges, twist until the top comes off.
- Insert your pipette or bottle top to one of the kidney holes until the e-liquid reaches the top of the tank.
- Screw top cap back on and let sit for 10 minutes.
How To Change The Coils
- Turn the tank upside down
- Unscrew the bottom tank by the airflow
- Remove the pressure coil by unscrewing anticlockwise
- Insert the new coil by screwing clockwise (after wicking)
- Screw bottom back to tank.
You are able to change the coil with e-liquid still in the tank however this is only possible when the tank is a quarter full.
Stock Coil performance
The coils are great but I have a clear favourite!
0.4Ohm R2-OCC NiCr
Let’s start with the pre-installed R2-OCC NiCr which has a recommended wattage of 40 to 80 watts. I’ve been hitting this one at the sweet spot of 70 watts.
The flavour is decent and I found performs better with simple single flavours. To increase the longevity of the coil I found using 60 watts and lower with a 70VG/30PG e-liquid to be the best.
It’s a typical sub-ohm coil and performs as expected but it’s pretty decent.
0.2Ohm R8-OCC NiCr
This bad boy is my favourite and has a recommended wattage of 50 to 90 watts, I personally found 80 watts to be the best for performance.
In comparison to the R2 there isn’t too much different just a slight increase in flavour and vapour. The main negatives around using this coils is even though it is better for flavour and clouds, it requires more power which can be an issue with this kit due to the mod only having a 2000mah battery.
How Does the Kanger Vola mod Perform?
Overall the Kanger Vola mod performs well for a small, internal battery mod.
It has all the features we now see with most mods including curve mode. KangerTech has organised the chip by splitting out the features by a vapers skill level.
- Beginner mode only allows the user to use wattage mode and to be honest I used this mode 99% of the time.
- Intermediate mode allows you to use wattage and temperature control for all the major wire materials (Stainless steel, Nickel and Titanium).
- Finally the expert mode allows you to use what is commonly known as ‘curve mode’ for both wattage and temperature.
Naturally expert mode is the hardest to use and I found not necessary, however, it’s always nice to have.
So far we know the mod looks good and has all the features we need but its not all positives.
The main and only real con that I have found with this mod is the battery life, it sucks.
Having a 2000mah battery isn’t too bad when using high ohm coils with low wattage but when using the Vola tank and its coils the battery life will only last on average about 1/2 a day.
● 4ml capacity
● TPD Complient (Comes with a bung that makes it 2ml)
● Good flavour for a mid market sub ohm tank
● Smart looking design
● Fantastic HD screen
● Kit comes with everything you need (Apart from liquid)
● 510 connection drip tip
● Power hungry coils that don’t match the mods abilities
● 2000mah battery life doesn’t last long.
